Content focuses on established psychological theories of adult development and recent research involving social and biological influences on behavior and cognitive functioning in older adults.

Joan Calandra, PhD

Dr Calandra is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in West Los Angeles. She treats adult patients throughout the lifespan, practicing from a contemporary psychodynamic framework. Additionally, Dr. Calandra works as a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist, providing intervention to patients and family members in acute psychological distress. Dr. Calandra brings over 20 years of diverse mental health experience to the classroom. As an officer in the United States Air Force she functioned as both psychologist and psychiatric nurse. Dr. Calandra has authored a number of health psychology articles for peer reviewed publications.

John Preston, PsyD
