Course Description: This course will explore the principles and techniques associated with conducting research in the behavioral sciences with a special emphasis on critical thinking skills.
Goals: At the completion of this course you will be able to critically evaluate the research of others and develop studies of your own
Specific Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Describe the nature of scientific inquiry in Psychology.
- Discuss fundamental concepts related to psychological research including, but not limited to: causal inference, sampling, reliability, validity, and statistical analysis.
- Think critically and evaluate the validity of conclusions in the scientific literature
- Engage students in collaborative, scientific discussions.
Instructional Strategy: This is an asynchronous on-line course that will utilize a series of readings and assignments to facilitate our specific learning outcomes. This course is not guided by the Instructor.
