Course Description

This course critically examines contemporary issues and topics in the field of human development. This course will provide an overview of current theory and research related to development across the life span. Special emphasis will be placed on issues and debates that have dominated the field and continue to be a source of controversy and impetus for research. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we will explore social, cognitive, physical, and biological factors that can shape the course of human development. Attention will also be paid to on how cultural context shapes and gives meaning to development.

Bernadette Torrez, PhD

Dr Torrez received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Neuropsychology at CSPP - Alliant International University. She also holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College.

Her main areas of interest are trauma, addiction, personality disorders, couple dynamics, and neuropsychological assessments. She has worked in numerous settings including community mental health, psychiatric, residential, behavioral health, and currently works in Kentfield, conducting psychotherapy, consultation, and neuropsychological testing.
