Course Description

This course provides an overview of the concept of personality theory and related research methods, including the Freudian and other Psychoanalytic approaches, the Trait approach, the Biological approach, the Humanistic approach, the Behavioral/Social Learning approach, and the Cognitive approach. Upon completion, students should be able to distinguish and understand the different approaches to personality theory.

Are there any advantages to taking these courses through Alliant?

What is the format of the courses?

The courses are offered online as Guided Independent Study. All course material will be online.

The instructors for each course will provide extensive online resources to support your learning. If you have questions, you will be able to contact the instructor by email and all emails will be answered within 48 hours.

Course Instructor

Amber J. Landers PhD

Amber J. Landers PhD is Assistant Professor in the PsyD program at California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University- San Francisco campus. She has experience in consultation and brief interventions in primary care, school, and early childhood settings and is coordinator of the Integrated Health Track at CSPP San Francisco. She obtained her BA from the University of California-Riverside, and completed her doctorate at Purdue University where her dissertation examined the effects of stress and parent-teacher communication on the psychological adjustment of ethnic minority elementary school children. She completed her pre-and post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance. Her interests including the training and practice of integrating mental health into non-mental health settings, reducing stigma, and promoting health and mental health access for underserved populations, children, and families.
